making this comparison even more vital since it is a reflection of the changing ways of world governments. In America,
pressure groups play a very important role in government. Their goal is to inform government and politicians about the view of certain segments of the population on particular matters
(Pressure Groups in America, 2003). Therefore, the pressure groups provide a link between people and their government (Pressure Groups in America, 2003). These groups used to be more
commonly referred to as "interest" groups, but have since been replaced with "pressure" since it sounds more forceful (Pressure Groups in America, 2003). Pressure groups "try to influence legislation
by mobilizing public opinion" (Pressure Groups in America, 2003). In the end, their main objective is to influence public policy.
As time has gone on, these pressure groups have engrained themselves more ardently into society, and therefore distinctions between these groups and political parties are often hard to determine
(Pressure Groups in America, 2003). For instance, it has become customary for pressure groups to endorse candidates, as well as raise campaign funds, and provide assistance of various kinds
