know others and see that there really isnt much difference between us and them. The way that the stories are told, however, puts the existence of these social
processes into the limelight and makes the audience consider, for a moment, the depth of prejudices that exist in contemporary culture. The student will want to consider whether they

United States as does Higher education, although to a lesser extent. Remember the Titans is based on the consequences of forced integration after years of legal segregation. Its

the social norms of the time. The belief that a person with stigma or someone who is outside of the norm, was not entirely human was recognized by the
sociologist, Erving Goffman and Elaine Pagels, a historian of religion. The concept of otherness as a proponent of discriminatory practices dates back to the beginning of human history.
