and getting into pajamas. A simple routine is often taken for granted as if no routines or systems develop, people will simply live in a disorganized fashion. To some extent, the scientific idea of systematics resembles such order and is related not only to the real world, but assists in scientific innovations as well. Systematics has many practical applications. Systematics is "the study of organismic diversity as that diversity is relevant to some specific kind of relationship thought to exist among populations, species or higher taxa" (Wiley, 1989 as cited in "Systematics," 2003). Systematics can bring real benefits to society in a number of ways, in part by giving it a logical system on which to base the structure of life. It is also something that has been applied in terms of biology in the realm of molecular systematics (Schneider, 2001). Both molecular systems and cladistics have been used to resolve problems in respect to "bivalve evolutionary biology" (2001, p.9). Such studies have been undertaken primarily by paleontologists and have stopped stagnation in respect to bivalve systematics (2001). Bivalve systematics for example is excellent in respect to fossil record keeping in relationship to the Bivalvia and is to be used for cladistics as well as molecular systematics (2001). Through such methodology, problem solving will be accomplished not only in respect to bivalve evolution but additionally, in relation to evolutionary biology (2001). Practical applications are numerous if in fact systematics affect what is known about evolutionary biology. It can help scientists in predicting the future in terms of evolution and perhaps aid in epidemiological studies. Palm (2001) points out that systematics as related to plant inhabiting fungi may be seen as useful for creating "appropriate plant quarantine decisions" which has the effect of protecting plant resources.
