There seems to be no real evidence of why this is the case, but it is generally acknowledged as truth in the parenting world. This does not mean that some
boys are not easier to potty train than some girls, for the process of potty training is a very complex and psychological activity that takes many things into consideration. For
example, one boys parents may be equally involved in potty training him in a very relaxed fashion and thus the boy is potty trained by the age of 3, whereas
a mother who is stressed at employed may have a more difficult time with her girl. She may try everything she hears or reads, and her girl may not be
trained till she is almost 4. The following paper argues, however, why boys often take longer to potty train than girls. Potty Training First off one author presents the
eternal question "Does it really take longer to toilet train boys than girls?" to which she replies, "Yes, although no one, including expert T. Berry Brazelton, seems to know why"
(Bozdech, 2004). This author indicates that one of the problems may well be that the primary teachers for potty training are mothers, not fathers, and as such the boys do
not necessarily equate the two differences in learning to use the toilet. There is also the possibility that boys are often taught to stand up when they urinate, and then
made to sit down when they have a bowel movement. Such intricacies can prove far too complex for the boy as he must remember and learn how to do different
