acquisition first surfaced there were mixed thoughts, the potential culture clash had been noted, with the argument that despite changes in the way Yahoo operates as it has matured and
become older, there is not the same hard focus on the bottom line that is seen at Microsoft (Albanesius, 2008). Microsoft may have a history of making acquisition, but the
questions remains, how would they be able to add value for the shareholders for both of the firms? The move would not significantly
change the major players, bringing them, together would simply create a much large second place actor, who is more able to compete with Google, but it may also focus
competition on two firms so that there is less chance of other firms to compete, a duopoly. With increases market power and a more secure position there is the first
potential way of creating value for the shareholders, with the way integration takes place. One of the main motivation behind mergers and acquisition is to be able to create value
while cutting costs; creating higher levels of efficiency by the elimination of redundant facilities, products or personnel and by the company now being able to choose the most profitable product
