number of aspects of our modern society. While the exact point in time that postmodernism is said to have began is difficult to pin down with any accuracy, many
suggest that it began with the 1960s. There are, however, numerous meanings associated with the term postmodern. There are also many societal implications to this concept. Perhaps
one of the most interesting and potentially devastating implications which has resulted in response to postmodernity is that of globalization and its consequent contributions to civil disobedience. This aspect

Mankind has the need to put labels on practically everything that affects life. Postmodernity is the label which has been placed on what is
believed by some to be the new historical epoch (Wood, 1996). Although other labels have been applied to this period in our history, postmodernism is the one which is
used to describe the cultural changes which our society has experienced. Changes have occurred in practically every aspect of our lives. Our religions have become marginalized and even
our basic concepts of what is right and wrong become warped (McDermott, 1998; Beaman, 1998). Each of these changes have, in turn, been reflected in our postmodern literature.
Some contend that the changes noted above can be either directly or indirectly due to the numerous changes in technology. Technology, in fact, can be said to be one
of the primary factors in practically every aspect of our lives. It plays a particularly important role in the civil disobedience which characterizes the postmodern era.
