difficult to keep up with. Within fifty years the world saw the invention of the automobile, film, and the atomic bomb. The 20th century was a century of incredible change
that truly brought to life many things only dreamed of prior to the 20th century. One could argue that all centuries have seen great change, but the 20th century brought
great change at a speed never before seen, with one discovery or invention leading to yet another. The following paper examines this postmodern world and the postmodern world of the
future, discussing what the world may look like in perhaps 50 years and what that would mean to ones personal and professional life. Postmodern World According to McKay,
Hill and Buckler during the last part of the "twentieth century, massive changes swept through eastern Europe and opened a new era in human history" (1027). These changes that the
authors speak of were primarily focused on Europe and the end of the Cold War. With the fall of the Soviet Union decades of fear and anxiety slowly came to
an end. And, with the development of the European Union came a great deal of hope for the future. There were many decades of anxiety and fear prior to
the later part of the 20th century as the world saw two world wars and numerous small wars such as the Korean and the Vietnam wars. The world saw industrialization
and the growing super powers. But, much of the fears seemed to fall away with the end of the struggle between the United States and the Soviet Union. Aside
