It questions the nature of reality and asks is reality out there, is it just a product of human construction, is it static or dynamic and so on (Bettis and Gregson, 2011; McNabb, 2010). Positivism argues that reality is defined through data and positivist researchers believe that they can gain an understanding through experiments and observation (Ryan, 2006). Post-positivist research considers a whole picture of things that values passion and values and even passion. Ontologically, post-positivism is also concerned with reality but it looks to multiple ways to measure observations and it also considers possible biases that could be related to analysis and interpretations (Hutton, 2009). Bettis and Gregson (2011) point out that post-positivist researchers would not be likely to make broad generalizations such as those made by a positivist researcher. Theorists agree that it is very difficult to define postmodernism. It is a term that Jean-Francois Lyotard introduced in 1979 (Aylesworth, 2010). Using a model of language games, Lyotard proposed that the games had changed in literature, science and art, the rules were different. He said that experts knows what he knows but philosopher does not know what he knows, he simply asks questions (Aylesworth, 2010). This has a direct impact on the state of knowledge because it suggests that knowledge is always changing and expanding to incorporate the existing society. Ontologically, postmodernism rejects modernism in favor of promoting the uncertainty and fragmentation of society as it changes (Hutton, 2009). Axiology is the study of the nature of value and the types of morals, religion, aesthetics and value. This field studies how people think and how they value things.
