environment matters, at least to an extent. This is particularly true of what is called the concrete operations stage, or the ages of roughly between seven and eleven years old.
The Concrete Operations Stage is one where children are finally able to take another persons point of view ("Piagets," 2004). A child at this stage is able to take
into account more that a sole perspective at any given time and they also have the ability to notice transformation in addition to static situations (2004). This seems to be
a tremendous difference from the previous stage. At the same time, these children cannot at this stage yet understand all possibilities nor can they think abstractly (2004). During this
stage, it becomes especially apparent that environmental influences promote positive emotional and psychosocial development. In fact, there has been an interest in terms of both affective and emotional development
in recent years (Kwon & Yawkey, 2000). Booth & Crouter (2001) suggest that communities play a vital role in respect to development. Many realize that a variety of influences are
important. At first, Freudian theory would focus on internal struggles concerning the id which drives ego repression and so forth (Kwon & Yawkey, 2000). Freudian theory would spark
interest in terms of how the environment would affect emotional impulses as well as attempts to control or regulate expression (2000). Erikson would come later revitalize the interest in
terms of the emotional development (Kwon & Yawkey, 2000). Erikson emphasized healthy conflict resolution in terms of internal and external driven anxieties (2000). The psychosocial developmental stages that
