past decade or more. This is primarily because they have, relatively recently, become a nation that is booming in relationship to industry of many sorts. Their industry, according to many,
has ultimately caused a great deal of trouble in the past few years with the global winds carrying a great deal of their air pollution across the ocean to the
West Coast of the United States. But, in their own nation they have also been experiencing some more obvious, and harsher realities. The following paper examines the pollution problems of
China as it involves industry. The paper also examines what they are doing about it. Pollution and China "For all its
efforts, Chinas unrestrained growth makes it one of the worlds worst polluters" (Balfour, 2005; 122). According to this author the nation is immersed in realities that have been going on
for 3 decades due to the industrial development relating to communism and then 25 years involved with capitalism to some extent (Balfour, 2005; 122). In essence, through their importing many
products and supporting their nation they have experienced a great deal of environmental problems. It is estimated that, "In 2025, China will consume 14.2% of the worlds energy, compared with
9.8% in 2001" (Balfour, 2005; 122). In addition, it is noted that, according to the World Bank, that China possesses 6 out of the 10 cities in the world that
are considered the most polluted (Balfour, 2005; 122). One of the biggest culprits of the problem is coal. Most of the electricity that
