outdoors, air pollution is problematic. In the United States, air pollution is something that is overseen by a variety of bodies that monitor and control the quality of the air
("Air pollution"). Yet, when it comes to environmental issues, some claim that the media blows things out of proportion. One then has to wonder whether or not air pollution is
a non-issue. Is air pollution truly a problem that affects the health of the worlds population? The data does seem to indicate that air pollution does have a deleterious effect
on human health. Scientists do know that there are many harmful effects that come from air pollution ("Pollutions Effects"). Examples include the fact that air pollution is known to cause
burning eyes, coughing, and breathing problems ("Pollutions Effects"). Atmospheric haze, also known as smog, does reduce visibility and acid rain, which is a consequence, can do further damage ("Pollutions Effects").
The Environmental Protection Agency suggests that between 5% and 20% of individuals are affected by the effects of the ozone and this may culminate in various forms of respiratory
disorders (Knopper 40). While physicians, scientists and environmentalists sometimes make statements that are loosely based on fact, and there is much conjecture, studies support many of their assumptions. For example,
one study reported in Immunotherapy Weekly claims that children do suffer decreased lung functioning after being exposed to high concentrations of air pollutants ("Asthma; Air Pollution affects respiratory health in
children with asthma" 373). Authors explain: "Because nitrogen dioxide is derived mainly from motor vehicle exhaust, these data provide evidence that car emissions may be causing adverse respiratory health effects
