contrasts the relationship between politics and religion in the ancient civilizations of the
Near East, Egypt, Greece, Rome, Orient and India. There are many similarities in each of
these ancient civilizations considering it was a time when religion was the most important
aspect of life for most of these people. Politics more often than not, used this to their
advantage. The only difference was perhaps, to what degree it was used. Bibliography lists

the lives of people in many different ways. From how they behave to what they do with their money, these institutions control the lives of many, if not all people,
in one way or another. This has always been the case with governing and religious forces. From the beginning of time when a tribe needed some form of control to
remain safe in a hostile world, to modern days, where politics and religion also keep us safe from one another and outside forces, politics and religion have been there. In
an examination of the different, and similar, relationships that exist between politics and religion, we discuss the ancient civilizations of the Near East, Egypt, Greece, Rome, Orient and India.
In the Orient, as with many other places around the globe during ancient times, the people were ruled strongly through their family ties. The government was essentially an extension of
that family through political affiliation and through the notion that families needed to be well thought of by all religious and political orders of the particular region. It should be
stated that the Orient housed, and still does house, a great deal of religions and beliefs, but these religious beliefs have always been closely tied with politics, especially so in
ancient times. In ancient times it was important that religion be followed, but at the same time the rules that were put forth by the political powers, which included
religious aspects as well, were the most imperative to follow. There was certain protocol to follow and honor to be upheld. This is where family and religion were very closely
linked together in manners of political importance that might well call for military involvement. People must follow the rules and their religion demanded that they follow the rules of the
