and investing. Likewise, developing countries typically seek investments from developed countries in order to drive their various national initiatives towards economic prosperity. What is most relevant and interesting about such
tendencies, however, isnt just the overall trend towards global economic stimulation, but rather the shifts in international power balances that occur as one group of nations with differing cultures and
national ideologies begin to tread upon the "superpower" stage by virtue of their fiscal development. Over the last ten years, much economic growth has been cited in Southeast Asian markets
such as Singapore and Hong Kong, as well as in various South American countries such as Brazil. However, one of the countries which has made the most strides in terms
of economic growth and integration into the influential bloc of "developed" power is Colombia. Ever since President Uribe took power in 2002, much has been made of his policies to
