country has undergone many powerful changes that have affected the culture and society of the people. Today they seem to stand in a position where they are evolving and looking,
still, to find a positive path of success in many ways. The following paper examines various aspects of the Polish culture, focusing on how Poland is a nation in transition
without strong direction or identity. Polish Culture One of the cultural issues that the student requests involves the condition of high
power vs. low power in the culture of Poland. In a high power society the distinction and distance between elite and lower castes of people is strong, and in low
power societies the struggle is for equality without little true social concern for wealth or class. In the past, in Poland, prior to WWII, many have argued that it was
the peasants, the agricultural people who were seen as the identity of Poland. But, after WWII that drastically changed and today they rest in a place where their society is
far more of a high power society than a low power. Others argue it did not change a great deal and that it had been a high power society before
the war. One author notes, in relationship to the agricultural workers and the type of society that exists in Poland, that "Although the peasantry received nominal coverage under the state
medical system beginning in 1972, rural education and health services remained far behind those in the cities for the next twenty years" and that housing and opportunities do not abound
for most (Poland Agricultural Workers). Such indicates that social status is varied and that the elite are the ones with power. Like many
