problem in many cities. POLICE MISCONDUCT While the majority of police officers are doing their jobs in a most professional and ethical manner, it is unfortunate that this is
not true one hundred percent of the time. As in any profession there are those few who choose to bend the rules or have no sense of ethical conduct
in the performance of their duties. Battling the social element is not easy, as there are a number of underlying aspects that ultimately stand in the way of equal enforcement
of the law. There is no denying the fact that many times an offender who is either a Minority race or a lower class of citizen will not receive
the same treatment from some members of the law enforcement system as would a middle-to-upper class Caucasian. This particularly outright discrimination has come to the surface time and time
again when a black or indigent person is treated differently than an acceptable looking white troublemaker. Another aspect of police brutality is in the police departments interrogation rooms. In
many communities interrogations employ a methodical, almost deceitful plan to get suspects to say what the authorities want to hear. Through a series of carefully orchestrated questions, contemporary interrogation
techniques used by some of those in law enforcement can still exact a confession from a completely innocent person, but it is now accomplished by way of head trips, not
body slams. Since the inherent meaning behind the word interrogation is to pressure and persuade, the ultimate goal behind the act is to get a person to at least
admit to some participation in a crime, no matter if they actually participated or not. That way, the police will have obtained their objective -- a suspect -- and
