was the instrumental force behind the eventual cohesiveness that encompassed Greek Law, inasmuch as there was, indeed, a great need for such a show of order since there was no
modicum of conformity when it came to retribution. As Greek law continued to be established, it also became an integral component of other areas of life, branching out into
political and social implications. Fast forward to the twenty-first century and one finds many of the same problems still playing out that once existed during early Greek civilization -
only now they occur from the other side of the law. As Kappeler et al duly point out, the law is only as legally accountable as is each member
of the police force, with some acting more like criminals than do criminals themselves. The purpose of this chapter is to illustrate how
police officers are not always the protectors of law; rather, there are many instances where personal agendas stand in the way of rational thought, ultimately rendering "peace officers" the instigators
of terrible crimes against humanity. The concept of a rational society, in which the entire community is greatly influenced by principles its members completely and accept without challenge --
