at the underlying meanings of puppets, shadows and light finds one contemplating the questionable state of human existence, which is fortified by Platos impression of mortality. According to Plato, people
are prisoners within themselves, wholly incapable of seeing beyond their small scope of reality, bound by their ignorance and insecurities. The vantage point from this perspective, which he likens
to being chained on the floor, is one of complete restriction and shortsightedness. That there is but one direction to see from this angle speaks to presence of shadows
dancing and talking upon the walls. Are these shadows a part of an otherwise vivid imagination struggling to break free, or are they merely the manifestation of humanitys inability
to reach beyond its limited boundaries? The mortal prisoners look to the shadows as though they have lessons to bestow, taking in every word and gesture as if they have
some sort of allegorical message. Then, when the chains are removed and man is able to look at life from a different, more expansive perspective, the truth of these
so-called meaningful shadows is revealed, sending a tremendous wave of shock and despair to the naive humans. What all the while seemed to be transcendent elements sent to teach
important lessons turns out to be nothing more than images cast from puppets whose shadows are being cast from a fire deep within the cave, a reality that could only
be realized after man was able to stand up and actually see what was going on around him. This disturbing realization makes man understand in no uncertain terms that life
