theories which Aristotle would later elaborate upon. One of the theories Aristotle elaborated upon was the theory of form. According to Plato all matter could be defined in this theory of form which was highly mathematical and geometrical. Aristotle believed that such an approach only explained some of reality. In the following paper we examine the two. Theory of Form Plato essentially dominated much of the Medieval world, in relationship to thought and philosophy, up until the thirteenth century. "For Plato the cosmos was constructed on geometrical principles. He took over the four roots or elements of Empedocles: earth, water, air and fire"1 These applied to the forms that Plato considered to be involved in the tiers of reality. As one author states, "The theory of Forms, or Ideas, is ascribed to Plato, ca. 417 - 327 B.C.
