Clubs of America (BGCA) is active in the East Tennessee region. Its Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley (BGCTV) maintains 17 sites at which the organization provides after school care and homework assistance for children and their parents. The clubs are open to all children in the local area, but BGCA seeks out children from disadvantaged backgrounds and conditions. Dues are kept low enough that any family in any economic circumstances can afford to pay the full price of each child. Full price does not equate to full cost, however. BGCTV has 14 facilities (three meet in juvenile detention centers) and maintains a variety of programs as well as buses that provide shuttle service from school to the facility. Annual dues vary between sites associated with BGCTV. Some are $5 per child, others charge $10. That is an annual fee, not a daily one. BGCTV fully relies on the national organization and a variety of local-area fundraisers to meet its financial needs. Existing Fundraisers There are several large annual events that benefit the local organization. All of them target different audiences, but none seeks to include any of the children they are designed to benefit.
