In this case we have been told that we are to head up project team which is there to upgrade the hardware of the computing system in the organisation whilst
keeping any disruption to a minimum. However, this is only a broad definition and does not give us any details that would be needed in order to base the project
on and against which we can gauge the success or failure of the project (Messmer, 2001). Therefore the first stage of the planning needs to be that of fact finding
and defining the project and then ensuring that this is correct by forming a project statement. In order to do this there is a need to ask questions. * What
does the upgrade need to achieve and what are the current levels of capability; From this we can ascertain what type of upgrade is needed and ensure that the final
result will be one of the system being able to perform as required. * What computers and parts of the system need to be upgraded as not all parts of
the network may be effected, indeed it may even only be the servers if it is the bottle necks that are causing the problems. * What is the time scale
in which this needs to take place, * What is the budget. Therefore we may result in a statement such as;
The aim of the project is to ensure all computer in department X have a minimum RAM capacity of 32 Mb and that they all have a hardware capacity to
