the class on a field trip. Field trips can be a raging success or a dismal failure. It all depends on the planning process. When a teacher is considering
taking students on a field trip, the first priority is the objective. The teacher needs to clarify the objective or the outcome of the field trip. Exactly what knowledge and/or
skills will this trip enhance and expand? Will it lead students to greater understanding of the topic? Will it help them understand an abstract concept? For example, we hear that
our ponds and lakes are polluted, which is abstract but if we take students to a pond and have them perform water quality tests, they can understand the concept. Filed
trips take a lot of good planning that begins with the objective or expected outcome for the trip. Other activities can be categorized: Site Selection: This depends on the
objective but this step requires the teacher to determine the why for the trip and, as stated, it objective, and how the teacher will evaluate if the trip was successful
