motivation and personality within the team work environment. In order to develop a plan there is a need to consider the way motivation take place and how it may be
implemented. There is a great deal of evidence that supports the idea of interaction between employees and employees and management being a
main source of motivation. motivation theories originating from the concept of social man starts with the work of Mayo1, and his Hawthorn studies which looked at a group of
workers who were placed in marginally improved working conditions(Huczynski and Buchanan, 2007). This group of people demonstrated an increase in productivity. This started to give credence to the view that
working conditions would have a direct impact on productivity. However, the studies also demonstrated that when the study group suffered a decline in working condition their productivity still improved, indicating
that it was the special attention the study group received which increased the productivity rather than the actual conditions (Huczynski and Buchanan, 2007).
This theorized that the relationship between employer and employee and between employees would impact on both the quality and productivity of the workplace. It showed that any environmental changes, could,
in the short term improve work rates but that the strongest overriding factor was the different group dynamics and social interactions between the two groups. This indicates the important of
elements such as commitment between team embers and social commitment, as such the plan needs to help demonstrate this commitment by employers and support the development of social cohesion within
the group, there are also the needs to satisfy social needs, such as those identified by Maslow, such as being appreciated, feelings of belonging and personal development (Thompson, 2007; Shoura
