as beneficial as the Industrial Revolution has been for human advancement, it has been just as detrimental for environmental degradation, with fossil fuels representing some of the worst aftermath.
In relation to photosynthesis, light is essential in order to provide the coral reef with necessary components it needs to survive. Light becomes a limiting factor in crowded reefs,
with thicker communities becoming less availed to the benefits of sunlight, which is not only instrumental in the basic process of photosynthesis but also in the manner in which the
reefs ultimately develop. "The algae create their own food by photosynthesis during the day, and the corals eat the plankton they catch during the night. Both produce byproducts that
benefit the other species" (Anonymous PG). Growth is essential to coral reefs for the reason that if they are not allowed to expand, their very existence is threatened. Given
the fact that coral reefs are ecosystems unto themselves, if they are not permitted the room or environment to thrive, neither can all the other entities that rely on them
