his fashion photography. Weber was born on March 29, 1946 in Greenburg, Pennsylvania ("Zeitgeist," 2001). In addition to attention to fashion and advertising, the artist is also well known for
taking homoerotic photographs and he also has an extensive collection of portraiture of famous individuals. Still, Weber is considered a dynamic force in the fashion industry ("Bruce," 2001). Art directors
who looked at fashion magazines for inspiration made photographers like Bruce Weber into advertising stars (Vagoni, 1999). Weber has taken pictures for most every magazine imaginable since 1973 ("Bruce," 2001).
Abercrombie and Fitch has had scandalous and controversial catalogues of late. Many of them have been deemed slightly pornographic and have delved into controversial subjects. The producer relies to
some extent on Bruce Webers erotic photography (Goldstein, 1999). Ralph Lauren also uses Weber. While his photographs are excellent, and no one can deny that, much of his applause comes
from the gay community that seems to not be able to get enough of Webers pictures. Stuart (2001) remarks in a critical column on the photographers film Chop Suey: "Whatever
they are paying Bruce Weber to shoot those soft-core Abercrombie & Fitch catalogs, its not enough" (p.PG). In other words, Weber has opened doors for the gay community in terms
of securing truly complimentary photography of men. Webers experience in homoerotic art made him a pioneer. The art work is controversial as is homosexuality in general and eroticism too.
The creation of erotic art in this way was therefore something unique and may be considered bold. Weber was different from other photographers in this genre as he brought homoeroticism
