to exploring the unknown do not change. Even the concept of God, or a supreme being, goes unchanged even as centuries unfold. While there are many things that seem to
be consistent throughout the ages, and one can see this when looking at popular culture as well as great works of literature, it pays to first explore the ideas of
the great philosophers and writers of the Ancient world and go on to later philosophers. The common thread between these writers will certainly shine, thus proving the concept that ideas
really do not change. Socrates was a Greek philosopher who was born in Athens ("Socrates" PG). His influence on the planet is well known. He is infamous. Plato claims
that Socrates had devoted his last 30 years to changing the ideas of the Athenians in respect to moral matters (PG). Socrates probably held doctrines that human excellence is
a sort of knowledge and so, it is also thought that all wrongdoing is based on ignorance (PG). He believed that no one really desired bad things and it is
worse to do injustice than to suffer from injustice (PG). Socrates himself had been tried on charges of impiety and corruption of youth by by those who wanted to restore
democracy to Athens (PG). While Socrates had much faith in people and believed that morality was a consequence of ignorance, many today would say he was naive. At the same
time, he would likely have some supporters; these would be the same people who fight for the lives of death row inmates, and quite logically, if someone does something horrible,
