some, but many people see these habits and activities as integral to their daily lives. They perhaps make some attempts to eat right, exercise, and refrain from negative habits, but
they end up creating illnesses that could be prevented with proper lifestyle choices. The negative health-related behaviors in society prompt pharmacists to create drugs in order to combat the effects
of these activities. An example is that people eat a lot of products that are high in saturated fat, so cholesterol-lowering drugs were invented. People who indulge in a lot
of alcohol end up with high triglycerides and so drugs are created to treat those individuals. People who want to quit smoking for health reasons now have an array of
products from which to choose, inclusive of but not limited to lozenges, gum and patches. Risky behaviors have led to the development of pharmaceutical products and nowhere is this more
obvious than in the case of obesity. Obesity is a problem with which most people are familiar. If they do not have an issue with their weight, they likely know
someone who does or have at least viewed The Biggest Loser television show, or have witnessed morbidly obese people in restaurants or on airplanes. It is hard to live in
America without seeing many obese people every day of their lives. What is obesity and how is it diagnosed? Obesity is equated with the notion that someone is grossly overweight
to the point where it impacts health. The standard measurement is to use a Body Mass Index or BMI chart; however, with the idea that where the fat is matters,
it seems that definition may in the future go toward the use of waist circumference instead (Kopelman, Caterson & Dietz, 2009). No matter how it is defined or measured, obesity
