to 9/11/01. Chapter 1 : Bergen begins this chapter by describing the tranquility of September 11, 2001. He mentions how the "perfect morning" was ideal for
flying, a matter of great importance to the men boarding various American Airlines flights. "In little more than an hour, more than five thousand Americans perished: the most catastrophic act
of terrorism in the history of the United States" (Bergen 25). The author goes on to describe the evidence that pointed toward bin Laden as the mastermind behind the 9/11
attacks. Chapter 2 : "As with so many stories, it is best to begin this one at the beginning, and the bin Laden family saga begins not in Riyadh,
Saudi Arabia, where Osama was born in 1957, but several hundred miles to the south in Hadramawt, Yemen, where the bin Ladens originate" (Bergen 41). As this statement suggests, Bergen
