Our employee, whom we will call Brenda is quiet and unassuming, but also extremely competent and would easily be able to handle the increased responsibility that the promotion would bring.
However, as she is one of only a few women in the department and does not promote herself she has not been considered for the post. Her manager know he
can set her tasks and leave her to it, so communicates little with her, but it is also this manager that has the responsibility of preparing the list to present
to senior management regarding any employees he feels are suitable for the position. Therefore, Brenda needs to influence her manager to get her name onto that list. He is a
