is an up and coming field (Regan & OConnor, 2002). Computers are often utilized to hold the data that employees use on a daily basis. Yet, it is the very
nature of the use of computers that provide a sense of disconnect at times. Still, companies will explore technology to help people connect with one another. In fact, an article
by Bert Painter (2008) points out that there are ways to help people become more in sync with fellow employees. II. An Article Analysis
Bert Painter (2008) has published an article entitled: " Socio-Technical Design of Knowledge Work: A Case Study." Painter (2008) uses a case involving an insurance company. The
case study involves a claim filing system that is electronic in nature (Painter, 2008). The change involved alterations in technology as well as changes in regard to personnel and how
they react and communicate (Painter, 2008). To see how personnel were actually affected, surveys had been utilized in order to glean information (Painter, 2008). What the survey attempted to find
is what effects the new changes had on work processes and what effects it has on job aspects, in addition to the usability of hardware and software (Painter, 2008). In
effect, many things would be examined to note whether or not the new system was a positive implementation. At first, an assessment was made, but down the road, intricate assessments
