protagonist Lt. Aldo Raine in Quentin Tarantinos 2009 film Inglourious Basterds can be assessed within the contexts of the so-called big five personality clusters. These clusters include openness, conscientiousness,
extraversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism (Livesley, 2001). Openness refers to an individuals willingness to experience life, and includes "fantasy, aesthetics, feelings, actions, ideas, values" (Livesley, 2001, p. 22). Lt. Raine
is "a hillbilly from Tennessee" who is clearly open for extreme life experiences (Tarantino, 2008). By being named leader of a Jewish-American group of guerilla fighters dubbed Inglourious Basterds,
Raine openly embraces all aspects of war as if it gives him the opportunity to live out all of the wartime fantasies he may have had playing soldiers as a
child. He uses his impassioned hatred of Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler and his Jewish religious values as constant sources of inspiration. As long as Hitlers forces are killing
Jews, Raine and his Basterds will take great delight in killing Germans. Conscientiousness refers to an individuals "competence, order, dutifulness, achievement striving, self-discipline, deliberation" (Livesley, 2001, p. 22). Lt.
