teaching style and the learning environment of my classroom are the priorities I place on (1) respect for myself and others as individuals; (2) my responsibility to my students to
ensure that they achieve their full potential; and (3) appreciation of diversity. As with all personal values, these are a culmination of all of lifes influences: the excellent example of
parents; the example of my own teachers; and the extensive training that I have received within the context of the various degree programs in which I have been involved.
The values delineated above have served me well and their results have been overwhelmingly positive. Whether or not there are not any negatives involved, largely depends on ones point of
view. What mean by this is that when a teacher harbors these values, it naturally makes classroom management more complicated than simply taking an authoritarian, traditional stance. Particularly in previous
eras, teachers set strict rules, demanded silence and obedience and simply sent any child who broke the rules to the principals office. By embracing the values listed above, classroom
management becomes much more complicated as it includes lively class discussions, as well as students undertaking a variety of projects, which are suited to their particular interests (within the assigned
topic) and their particular learning style. As factor relates to the first value I mention, which is my respect for the individuality of every person. Students may share certain
