Ive always been open to different lifestyles, different choices and different orientations and do not judge individuals based on their sexual orientation or their beliefs about sex and love.
Personal Biases, Attitudes, and Cultural Beliefs Regarding Sexual Issues Ive always struggled with the concept of monogamy, primarily because I believe it goes against human nature and sets up
parameters for the way in which people express their emotions towards others. Because of our culture and the emphasis placed on monogamy, issues like marriage become central to how
we define our families and our notion of self. I believe that monogamy is a concept that was explored back when it was important to maintain single-family units as
a part of the economic necessity and to protect individuals from the spread of disease. In the modern era, monogamy is an outdated concept dictated by the church and
the state and does not reflect many significant cultural changes, including the importance placed on acceptance for individuals of varied sexual orientations. This has been emphasized through
very public opposition to gay marriage and the national debate over the rights of same-sex partners. My personal bias against marriage, then, reflects both my social culture and
my feeling that it should not be an institution supported by the state if all people cannot participate. Plan of Action My bias against marriage and my personal
