must reflect ones personal traits and characteristics. Ones teaching philosophy is always a work in progress, it is never cast in stone. People change, society changes, the student population changes,
new knowledge and information becomes available, new technology is developed, all of which lead the individual teacher to adjust, adapt and grow. I firmly believe that teaching is both an
art and a science. The science relates to knowledge and technology; the art is how the individual conveys knowledge and helps students learn. My philosophy is based on a caveat:
all children can learn but not necessarily in the same way or the same time period. Knowledge and Lifelong Learning: Effective teachers have a firm grasp on the subjects they
teach and they continually update that knowledge. An understanding of the subjects one is teaching allows the teacher to organize the material in such a way that it can be
presented to students in a clear and understandable manner. This inherently includes the philosophy of being a lifelong learner. The effective teacher is on who is constantly learning and who
is able to transfer this excitement of learning to ones students. It also means that the teacher understands learning theories and the developmental process of students with whom one works,
whether they be primary or adults. Motivation: So many of our youngsters today do not seem to have a built-in motivation to learn, which means that the teacher must create
an environment in which his or her students will become motivated and excited about learning. To accomplish this goal, effective teachers must understand their students. This is a primary tenet
in my philosophy - I believe that each student must be perceived and recognized as a unique individual with great potential. Not all instructional methodologies work with all students. It
