I am a lecturer at Basic Community College and he has been lecturing at Capacity Community College for three years. Our shared profession initially led us to chat at that
social event but we found we have other things in common, such as an interest in certain sports, certain kinds of movies and other recreational activities. One of the things
we do is share stories and ideas about how to make our classes more interesting and exciting for our students. Coming to know John as a person as well as
sharing teaching ideas places me in a good position to discuss him as a person and as a professional. As a friend, John is supportive, honest, loyal and cooperative. He
has that rare ability to view things from the other persons perspective, understanding that persons feelings about whatever is of concern. That does not mean that he just agrees with
the other person, it does mean that he is able to discuss issues and problems from a point of reason and empathy. I have personally found him very helpful when
I needed to sort out a problem. The other side is that John listens when he asks someone else for help solving a problem. He is able to communicate
about common living issues and he does so clearly and effectively. Ive never seen him indulge in one-sided discussions, instead, he is sensitive and open to different ideas even when
he does not agree. In my mind, this makes him a valuable friend. It also demonstrates his integrity. One of his gifts is a great sense of humor. He can
laugh at himself as well as bring that comedic release needed in a tense situation. Even when he is displaying his sense of humor, John remains mature. He is a
