Essay / Research Paper Abstract
A 6 page paper that discusses the writer's personal learning experiences with an anatomy and physiology course. The essay comments on the learner's attitudes towards taking the class, the type of learning experience it was, whether classical conditioning was involved, the obstacles for the student, and what could have made it a more positive experience. Theorists commented on include Pavlov, Skinner, Bandura and Gardner. Bibliography lists 4 sources.

required for degree program. Two Sections, Lecture and Lab. Negative experience. Although a great deal was learned and the course was interspersed with positive events, the class as a whole
never became a positive experience. The learner brought ambivalence to this class. On the one hand, the learner was moderately interested in the content of the course but on
the other hand, the learner wanted nothing to do with dissecting frogs and examining cadavers. There was no positive anticipation of learning as with most other courses. Classical conditioning,
per Pavlov, may have been involved. Pavlovs classical conditioning is explained as having a stimulus and response that are both unconditioned, then, introducing an condition, which links those two responses
(West Virginia University, n.d.). Pavlovs own experiments provide the clearest description of classical conditioning: the dog sees the food and salivates; these are uncontrolled; the dog did not learn to
salivate when presented with food, he just does (West Virginia University, n.d.). Pavlov then rang a bell when giving the dog food, after a time, the dog salivates when the
bell rings because he has associated the bell with the food. (West Virginia University, n.d.). People can also be conditioned through different stimuli. The dread was initially directly related to
the frogs and cadaver and the association had to do with feelings of inhumane treatment of the frog and the knowledge of the smell of formaldehyde with the cadaver.
The learner had different experiences in the lecture section than in the lab section. In the lab, which was the first class, students were paired with a partner and two
pairs worked together. It was a very collaborative arrangement with ready access to discussions with the professor. Our team worked well together, which helped the learning process. The learning process
