found out. In other words, if the situation arises in which not doing the right thing would never be known, the ethical choice is to do the right thing
anyway. It is positive personal ethics that compel the individual to call to the cashiers attention that s/he has returned too much change; it is the same standard that
results in a found wallet being returned with all of its cash intact and its credit cards untouched. Personal Ethics My personal ethics
extend to only normal bounds, encompassing those values and things that we as a society regard as positive qualities. I am honest, but only to a point. Though
I am an honest person, I will not be brutally honest with most people in a manner that will cause hurt or hard feelings. I will approach matters in
