himself; his beliefs, opinions, experiences and values. Also, in writing out a description of someone close, the student might learn a bit about himself. This paper is a personal essay
about a father. Discussion Although a formal paper is written in third person, an informal narrative becomes awkward in that format, so its easiest to write in first person. That
is, rather than saying "Ones father is..." the writer simply says, "My father is ..." That being the case, the student might continue as in the following example. My father
is the rock upon which our family is built. He is my role model because he not only sets out the guidelines he wants us to observe, but he lives
them as well. He doesnt tell us we should do one thing while he does another, which I find to be a very rare quality. He is a good person,
loving and supportive, and a Christian whose faith is strong enough that he doesnt need to impose it on others. He is a rock in the sense that Christ meant
when he told Peter that he was the rock on which Christ would build his church. He is strong in himself, and that strength draws others to him. But he
