"hard-working." Though these characteristics might describe my work ethic or my capacity for educational achievement, they do little to speak for my character or demonstrate my greatest strength, human
compassion. My name is Vishal Nandu and I am originally from Chandigarh, India. During my nearly 20 years of education in India, I worked in a variety of
service capacities, from volunteering for service projects in primary school to participating as an active member of the college community at Narmada College of Science & Technology, a part of
South Gujarat University. During my years in formal education, I came in contact with a wide variety of people, and learned that social issues, ranging from poverty to
social stigmatization, require constant attention. I found that those with resources are often willing to help others, if they can understand the problem and can see a connection between
their actions and changes in the lives of others. One of my greatest personal strengths is that Im able and willing to make the connection between those with resources
and the people who need help. My compassionate perspective has served as a basis for developing my own views of morality and ethics, and I have applied these to
both my way of being in the world and my sense of educational necessity. This strength developed because of the influence of some very powerful people, including members of
my own family. My father is an individual whose changing personal views have been inspirational to me. My father, an industrial developer, rarely looked at the poverty around
