Peron, his ideology and program and the significance of the Peron era in Argentine History. ARGENTINA 1930-1947 It was in 1930 when Argentina "experienced its first military coup"
(Alston 2002, PG), and it was in 1947 when Argentina impeached "four out of the five justices" (2002, PG) that it had. Of course impeachment has become very common
since that original time. There are theorists that feel that it is this very thing that gave way to the economic stagnation that affected so many of the new
states following the Independence. For instance, Alston (2002, PG) states "we maintain that it is the lack of an independent court as a legitimate backstop to potential legislative
and executive abuses that has lead to the lack of continuity in Argentinas economic policy since 1947." PERON Peron won by a large margin in 1943 because of
his high popularity. The country had been under martial law for two years, and Peron called for overhauling the political and military thinking of Argentina. Peron was not
popular for long, however, as the economy began to get worse with each passing day, it seems. In the first few years of the century there was some vigorous
economic growth, but it came as a surprise that in truth Peron did not really establish the economic growth of the country that it was proposed he would be able
to do. Many history books tout the "rise in Peronism" (Alston 2002, PG) but it is the "consensus of most scholars is that the urban areas hold the key
