vacation destinations and activities. People go on vacation to some of the strangest places in the world. Whether its Philadelphias Insectarium or Austins Pandemonious Potted Pork Festival, SPAMARAMA,
travelers in the new millennium are pursuing weird places to get the most bang for their buck. While traditional vacation destinations and European hot spots will continue to draw
visitors, non-traditional events and alternative vacation sites have a growing interest for vacation travelers. Even larger cities in the United States have focused on drawing in the alterative vacation
dollars by supporting vacation programs like San Franciscos Vampire Tour and Portland, Oregons Alien Museum. Vacationers are even selecting vacation trips based on identifying characteristics like cities with the
largest populations of declared vampires or cities with the strangest names (Casteele, 2005). The appeal of these strange vacation places is that they are not the usual,
they allow the travelers to experience something that they have never experienced before and that their friends and family may never experience. Bored with the monotony of traditional vacations,
many travelers seek some way of making a vacation new (Casteele, 2005). For example, a family might plan a vacation trip to towns with names that relate to the
concept of sound: Yellville, Arkansas, Yeehaw, Florida, Lower Harmony, New Jersey, Harmony, Maine, Ding Dong, Texas, Buzz, Pennsylvania and Disco, Michigan (Casteele, 2005). These direct destination vacations based
on a theme hold significance for the family, but may not ever be a widespread attraction for populations of vacationers as a whole. More often than not, though, people seek
