field of art. Paul Klee was a painter, Francine Prose a writer, and Roy Acuff was a country musician legend. Each held, or still holds, a powerful position in their
field of art and as such they surely have things in common, as do many or most artists. One could assume, for example, that they have all reflected, or still
do reflect, the society and culture into which they were born and lived, or live. Or one could assume that they all offer their fans some sort of understanding of
their own world, which is often the case with artists and their work. With these possibilities in mind the following paper compares the three artists as it involves their work,
their lives, and their influence or impact on people. Paul Klee, Francine Prose, and Roy Acuff The comparison begins with Paul Klee, a painter, and the only one
of the three who is not American born. "Swiss painter, watercolorist, and etcher, who was one of the most original masters of modern art. Belonging to no specific art movement,
he created works known for their fantastic dream images, wit, and imagination" (Artists Rights Society, 2000). Klee was a German citizen and was born in 1879 (Artists Rights Society, 2000).
Following WWI he began teaching and his work was soon seen as "degenerate" by the Nazis and he soon moved to Switzerland (Artists Rights Society, 2000). He then contracted a
health condition that would cripple and kill him (Artists Rights Society, 2000). The condition, scleroderma, essentially forced him to adopt a far simpler style to his work (Artists Rights Society,
