and bi-cultural at the same time. There is no question that America is a melting pot, which means people in this country originally come from somewhere else, whether it
is personally or in their lineage. But its important to remember that most people come to this country willingly, and come with excitement about the new opportunity and freedom
they will discover here. Furthermore, a great number of these people find just that - they find their slice of the American Dream.
So keeping in mind that most people immigrate here willingly, this then allows us to understand that a person can be bi-cultural. That it to say that
a person can embrace their heritage and culture of origin while also embracing a new one - one which offers hope for their future. Even looking at many Americans
today who were born right here in America, their families may have immigrated from perhaps Europe. And, it would be perfectly reasonable to assume that many of these people
have been raised to embrace many of the traditions and cultural ways of their ancestors, but this does not necessarily exclude them from being able to embrace their American heritage
as well. In todays world, the issue of bi-culturalism and patriotism is an important one - one precipitated by the unrest in
the world and the allegiances of Americans who hail from countries which are not presently in good standing with the United States. For instance, in todays political climate, many
people are questioning the allegiance of Americans who are from the Middle East, and wondering if perhaps their allegiance is actually to a terrorist organization, another government, or some other
