Father Brennan explores the numerous religious and spiritual principles that together make these parishes outstanding in the fields of ministry, evangelization and education. He shows that parishes across the country are reaching out to youth and young adults, fostering small communities, revitalizing adult education, advocating family consciousness, reconciling inactive members, re-imaging evangelization, and much more. Father Brennan does not shy away from topics that have often been laden with difficulty for many parishes. For instance, he unequivocally addresses the need for parishes to actively engage in a ministry of reconciliation for returning or alienated Catholics. In this and other publications, Father Brennan has suggested a blending of the RCIA and the ancient Order of Penitents in order to create what he terms a "remember, return and rebirth" process.
