become that the audience oftentimes is incapable of distinguishing between an actual photographed object and a specially crafted miniature special effect (Boggs, 1991).
Special effects were never intended simply to amaze or dazzle filmgoers; they serve a variety of purposes that includes serving as a story continuity guide, to close physical
continuity gaps that both tighten the plot and move it along; aiding audiences in processing emotional reactions to what is being seen; and provide a constant rhythm and flow to
the film as it unfolds (Manoogian, 1966). Although technology regarding the production of motion picture special effects is changing more rapidly than most filmmakers can admittedly keep ace with,
special effects have always fallen into three categories (Boggs, 1991). First, there are credible effects that are actual recreations of an actual event with which the audience is familiar
