One of the problems with entering the college environment as an adult is that many of the students may perceive adult learners as individuals who were unable to pursue their
education in a timely manner. Instead, I view my past life experiences as important in the development of my identity as a college student. My past life
experiences are an important part of who I have become. My social development, my sense of self, and my self-esteem are linked to the experiences that have brought me
to the educational environment at this time in my life. I have learned that educational attainment is an important factor in shaping my future goals and my understanding of
the future is linked to the issues that I have faced in the past. As a result, my understanding of my self as an adult learner is that I
place a greater value on the educational experience than learners straight out of high school. Further, my life experiences can add to my college experience, allowing me to contextualize
my learning process. My self-esteem stems from the pride that I take in my past work experiences and in my ability to see the need for additional education. The
pursuit of higher education at the University of Phoenix reflected my desire to take a positive step towards enhancing self-esteem and expanding my understanding of Information Technologies, while also identifying
future potential goals. When I looked at my life and my past experiences, I recognized that some of my goals seemed unattainable and some of my experiences were less
