of the Jewish faith. Discussion The Passover celebration is highly symbolic and steeped in ritual that has been handed down for generations. Almost everything that takes place during Passover week
(the celebration is actually eight days long) has a meaning that reflects some part of the Jewish faith. In 2006, Passover was observed from sundown on April 12 until sundown
on April 20 (Passover 2006, 2006). "Annually, Passover starts at sundown on the 15th day of the Jewish lunar month Nissan, which typically falls in March or April" (Passover 2006,
2006). Passover symbolizes the release of the Jews from bondage in Egypt in 1300 BCE (Passover 2006, 2006). It represents Gods words to the Israelites, when He tells them to
gather all their lambs, slaughter them in the evening, and wipe the lambs blood on the doors and lintels of their houses (Exodus 12). They are also instructed to eat
the lambs flesh that night, roasted; "with unleavened bread and bitter herbs" (Exodus 12: 8). They were further instructed to eat the meat completely, and any that was left by
the next morning they were to burn (Exodus 12). For God says "For I will pass through the land of Egypt that night, and I will smite all the first-born
in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and on all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgments: I am the Lord. The blood shall be a sign
for you, upon the houses where you are; and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and no plague shall fall upon you to destroy you, when
I smite the land of Egypt" (Exodus 12: 12-13). Likewise, Leviticus describes the times the feasts are to be celebrated: "In the first month, on the fourteenth day of
