Employee relationship management is old, probably dating to the first time an individual worked for another individual. Customer relationship management may be the next oldest category because businesses have always
known that they must give the customer value. Partner relationship management is relative new when compared to the other two. Employee relationship management is not as easy to define
as customer relationship management because the relationships between employees and employers are much more complex (Pieterse, 2008). If customers are dissatisfied, they just go to a competitor but if employees
are dissatisfied, they may stay with the company for many years. Unhappy employees do not produce as much as happy employees, which is why employee relationship management is so important.
A good relationship will enhance communication and increase employee morale, loyalty and job satisfaction (Pieterse, 2008). It will reduce turnover, which is very expensive for the company. Employee
relationship management is directly linked to customer relationship management because when employees are highly motivated they will provide better service to customers (TechRepublic, 2006). Employers need to adopt different strategies
and programs that will help develop a strong relationship between them and their employees. These activities could include training programs, career ladders, incentive programs, and other things that will lead
to a positive corporate climate. Loyal employees will always work hard to enhance the organizations reputation and business. Partner relationship management is based on many of the same principles
