wealthy young lady whose presence in the media seems ever-present. The following paper examines Paris Hilton through a gender/class lens, examining how she is portrayed, and what she represents in
relationship to the American culture. Paris Hilton First and foremost Paris Hilton is a woman who is presented to the public as a gorgeous blond woman. She is
supposed to be, in many ways, the perfect symbol of the blond beauty in the United States. However, this is because she is blond and in the news. The reason
why she is in the news is because she is incredibly wealthy, coming from the Hilton hotel wealth. What made Hilton a
household name can perhaps truly be dated back to when she was noted as having made sex tapes of her sexual exploits. It seems that prior to that she was
not a household name, but her sexual exploits, and the publication of her sexual exploits made her a common name. She was seen as a wild partying woman with a
great deal of money. She was perhaps seen as spoiled and able to do whatever she wanted with her familys money. She was, in many ways, living the American Dream
in that respect. Her connection to wealth and her ability to spend it put her in a social class that is not
experienced by most people. When the media takes this kind of socialite and makes her news, almost every day, the world sees Americans as individuals who have money, money they
do not themselves earn, and spend that money frivolously. In addition, many women look up to her, wishing they could be Paris Hilton, travel the world, buy whatever they wanted,
