the context of starting families. However, the impactful family structure is highly variable. One area of psychological inquiry not frequently undertaken is an examination of the impact that disabled children
have upon the psychological development of both parents and siblings. This paragraph helps the student begin to explore the problems a parent of a disabled child may face. To
be certain, the experience of rearing a disabled child is bound to impact the life and development of a parent in many key ways, including socially and financially. It also
has the capacity to dramatically alter the traditional family structure and force those developing within it to adopt new roles they may not be accustomed to. One of the major
social issues related to the upbringing of a disabled child is how parents can help that child succeed in an academic environment. In the west, public school is a valuable
experience for children not only pedagogical, but also as a source of socialization. For this reason, parents should encourage their disabled children to take part in such endeavors to the
extent that they can (HelpGuide, 2012). However, in doing so, accommodations must be made. Parents should be aware that it is a matter of law that schools provide an "individualized
education plan (IEP)" for disabled students, so that those students can take advantage of the same resources as any other student (HelpGuide, 2012). Through becoming aware of such realities, parents
can be a more active force in the social development of their disabled child. Rearing a disabled child is also certain to have financial impacts upon the parent. A
