who work and the lifestyles of many American families are incredibly busy. This means that there is often very little time for families to spend together and as such very
little time for parents, single or otherwise, to become involved in their childs education. This does not mean that parents are not concerned. It means that more often than
not there just does not seem to be enough "involved" time in American families today. This can, and does, affect how children grow, how they learn, and how diligent they
are in any particular field of involvement. If children witness and live with parents who are not openly interested in what the child does in school the child will
likely become an individual who does not feel that education is important. They follow the teachings of their parents and it is more than likely the case that good parental
involvement can reduce the number of truancies and the number of dropouts in the country. The following paper takes that particular stance and examines the role of parental involvement
in a childs education. The paper first examines the importance of parental involvement for many reasons, and then examines dropout and truancy issues in the United States today. The paper
finishes with a section on parental involvement and its affect on school success through attendance as well as improved performance in school and afterwards. Parental Involvement Without
